I feel that Spelman University would be a preferred college for me because it is an all-girl school and I will be more
focused on my schoolwork rather than being at a co-ed school. Also, Spelman is a historically black college founded in 1881.
My knowledge on my African-American heritage isn't the best and I think that if I attend this school, I will gain more information
about black history. Another thing to consider with Spelman is that it is located in Atlanta, Georgia. I love visiting Atlanta;
it's a live city. I like the area. The population isn't large, only about 2,200.

GREEK LIFE
|
 |
 |
 |
The percentage of women that participate in the greek life at Spelman is 5% and there are only four sororities. They
are responsible for a number of activities that promote sisterhood and community service. They keep the campus engaged in
all that is relevant to African American women. Spelman keeps a close watch on Greek activities and only allows women who
have reached sophomore status to pledge.The Greeks are known to throw the best parties and social events as well, especially
during Homecoming. All of the women at the school are united through their Spelman experiences and traditions.
An anonymous person stated :
"Greek life had a positive impact on campus life. I pledged in a sorority; however, I had many friends who did
not, yet they still thoroughly enjoyed their Spelman experience . . ."
